here are a lot of players that never touch another modes and only play MyCareer since it is tied into the park. Even though NBA 2K20 would just appeal to 10-20percent of the 2k playerbase, that will be a standard estimate I think, that could still create a decently sized community

To get a NBA-simulation, certain. No demand to 2K20 MT get a permit to get a MyPark-type game where you create your own player though.99percent is way too large. There are a lot of players that never touch another modes and only play MyCareer since it is tied into the park. Even though NBA 2K20 would just appeal to 10-20percent of the 2k playerbase, that will be a standard estimate I think, that could still create a decently sized community. But, I think that it's not so simple to make a nicely rounded basketball game, largely due to all of the different animations. Career mode is where u create 1 player to play player that is established together and against nba. Your game would be a lot of nobodies playing against nobodies (image rights duh). It is going to always be a small game and small community if NBA 2K20play is ideal.
This has already been done. Freestyle Basketball was famous for quite a few decades, its still running, they left a"sequel" on consoles that I believe is somewhat popular if less popular as the original game. Honestly surprised it hasn't been re-done with a bigger budget and somewhat closer. But getting NBA 2K20play right is probably much harder to do from scratch than NBA iterating over what they realized the prior year. Will always be a market game and not a competitor.
NBA hasn't been picky with their permit. Other leagues. Unless was changed by them. EA do and can make NBA games. They simply don't since it feels like they realise competing with the giant in the room is a foolish waste of money. The goes for everyone. That there is no more other nba games. The investment is just not worth it. The EA/2K sports war at the early 00s indicates that you are very incorrect. You could earn a non-licensed sports game, but nobody would purchase it.MyPark was just introduced in 2k14. And it's potentially the manner at this time. Obviously a game with a focus on a NBA experience does not make sense without a license, that's not the type of game I had in mind though.
I felt they sort of crossed the line as far as microtransactions in NBA2K17 where actual progress of your character was too slow with no major in sport money bulge. It's still a great game series but those with low tolerance for microtransactions are not going to have a fantastic time realizing the in game buys and abilities are usually pretty costly and earning points ingame is much more of a grind than it needs to be.I got 2k19 for $5 just like a month before 2k20. For $5 it was worth and I'll never pay a dime more for those games. And I will never pay another dime for much more of those matches. When they are all the exact same or worse It's not necessary to purchase Sports games.
I thought 2K17 was nice. It was slow, and a grind, but it was sort of leveling up within an RPG. I was ok it took a few games to get a stat point. And you might turn up the problem. After 2K17 it got fairly bad. 2K18 I think didn't have a multiplier when you changed difficulty, which means you simply play on easy and get exactly the identical amount of expertise (VC). When it came back in 2K19, it had been like NBA 2K20 was developed to be played in the maximum difficulty and after a full year I was only overall 75, LOL. It had been too much. I enjoy NBA 2K20s, but I skipped this year. Maybe I will buy it again in a later point, as the rest of NBA 2K20 modes (like from the 2K11 and before) are still there and don't have any microtransactions. The MyCareer item is one more mode.
I think a slow grind is fine if it is not paired with advertisements for speeding up the grind. A slow grind can be a style decision to lenghten a game or create the progress feel more rewarding. Howerer, if the programmer is at the same time telling you that the mill is rather slow and you could pick up the speed, it's signalling that the grind isn't slow because the programmer thinks it is best for NBA 2K20. The other problem with 2K is that besides the progeress, what's slow. If you would like to do something on your career, you can't just choose it on a menu and you are there a second later.
